Where Every Pixel Tells a Quest

QuestOrigin Studio is an independent gaming blog run out of Bank Place in the Melbourne CBD. We write long-form reviews, resurrect forgotten cartridges, and map the indie scene — no clickbait, no review scores bought with keys.

Our Mission

We treat games like the art form they are

Since our first hand-coded page in the dial-up era, QuestOrigin has believed a good write-up should outlast the hype cycle. We play every game to the credits, disclose every review copy, and give indie developers the same column inches as the big studios. Our editorial desk sits above a laneway café on Bank Place, two minutes from Collins Street.

Play to the credits

No first-impression reviews dressed up as verdicts. Every scored piece means we finished the campaign.

Disclose everything

Review codes, travel, and sponsorships are labelled at the top of every article — always.

Champion the small teams

Half our coverage is reserved for indies and student projects out of RMIT and the wider Aussie scene.

How It Works

From a fresh release to a review you can trust

  1. 01
    We source the game fairly

    We source the game fairly

We buy most releases at retail and clearly flag any publisher-supplied code. That keeps the verdict honest and the coverage independent.

  2. 02
    We play the whole thing

    We play the whole thing

A single writer lives with each title for 15–40 hours, logging notes on pacing, accessibility, performance on Series S, PS5 and mid-range PCs.

  3. 03
    We stress-test the claims

    We stress-test the claims

Second and third editors replay key sections, benchmark frame-rates, and fact-check the developer's marketing against what actually ships.

  4. 04
We publish and stand by it

We publish and stand by it

The review goes live with a plain-English verdict, an accessibility summary, and an open comment thread where the writer replies.
